Alangad Block Panchayat functions as part of the local self-government system in Kerala.
Alangad Block Panchayat is situated across the Aluva and Paravur taluks of Ernakulam district.
The total area of Alangad Block Panchayat is 66.763 Sq. Km.
The headquarters of the Block Panchayat is located at Kottapuram P.O., Alangad, Pin – 683511.
The Block Panchayat is situated approximately 20 km north of Kochi Corporation and about 14 km southwest of Nedumbassery International Airport.

The following four Grama Panchayats fall under the jurisdiction of Alangad Block Panchayat:

1. Alangad Grama Panchayat

2. Karumalloor Grama Panchayat

3. Kadungalloor Grama Panchayat

4. Varapuzha Grama Panchayat

Alangad Block Panchayat has a total of 14 Block Divisions.
The elected members from the 14 divisions constitute the governing body of the Block Panchayat.
A President and a Vice President are elected from among the members.
Statutory reservations are in place for women and Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe communities.

The Block Development Officer (BDO) plays a key role in executing developmental activities at the block level.
The official wing of the Block Panchayat consists of various officers and staff related to local self-government and developmental activities.
Projects are implemented in coordination with various departments in sectors such as Agriculture, Social Welfare, Scheduled Caste Development, Dairy Development, and Health.
The official wing plays a crucial role in implementing various development schemes in accordance with the decisions of the Block Panchayat governing body and government guidelines.
