Development Standing Committee

According to the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the primary duties and powers of the Development Standing Committee in the Block Panchayat are as follows:

🌾 Agricultural & Development Schemes

  • Agricultural Development: Plan and implement schemes in sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy development, and soil and water conservation.
  • Small-scale Industries & Enterprises: Promote small-scale and rural industries, traditional industries, and other employment-generating schemes.

💧 Drinking Water & Environment

  • Drinking Water Schemes: Ensure the supervision and development of drinking water supply projects within the Block Panchayat limits.
  • Environmental Protection: Coordinate local environmental conservation activities and wasteland development projects.

📊 Project Planning & Coordination

  • Annual Plans: Prepare annual plans and projects related to the development sector and submit them to the governing body for approval.
  • Grama Panchayat Coordination: Coordinate the development activities of the Grama Panchayats under the Block Panchayat and provide necessary technical and developmental assistance.
  • Fund Utilization: Ensure that allocated development funds are utilized in a timely and efficient manner.
