Health & Education Standing Committee

According to the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the primary duties and powers of the Health and Education Standing Committee in the Block Panchayat are as follows:

🏥 Public Health & Sanitation

  • Health Centers: Coordinate and supervise the functioning of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and other general hospitals under the Block Panchayat.
  • Preventive Measures: Organize preventive measures to control infectious diseases and implement sanitation programs.

🎓 Educational Development & Promotion

  • School Development: Implement projects to improve infrastructure and educational standards of schools within the Block Panchayat limits.
  • Mid-Day Meal Scheme: Ensure that the school mid-day meal scheme for children is implemented accurately and with high quality.

📚 Literacy & Health Awareness

  • Libraries & Literacy: Formulate continuing education programs and promotion schemes for reading rooms and libraries.
  • Health Awareness: Coordinate public health awareness programs, as well as healthcare schemes for adolescents and mothers.
  • Sports & Culture: Promote youth welfare, sports development, school-level competitions, and the functioning of cultural centers.
